At Higham Ferrers Junior School, our aim is to offer a wide range of physical activities and sporting experiences. Each year, children will have the opportunity to take part in high quality PE lessons based around games, gymnastics, dance, athletics and swimming.
Throughout their time in the school, children will also have the opportunity to take part in outdoor and adventurous activities in lessons and during a residential visit to Osmington Bay, Dorset in Year 4, giving children the chance to develop their problem solving skills, independence and social skills.
Our PE lessons are differentiated to ensure they are accessible to all ages and abilities, including catering for the gifted and talented, so that the needs of all children are met.
Children also have the opportunity to attend both breakfast and after school clubs which are run both by our coach and outside coaching companies. These include football, dodgeball, basketball, dance and gymnastics.
We are passionate about competitive sport and regularly take part in and organise inter-school competitions within the Rushden and Higham cluster of schools. Additionally, we attend competitive fixtures and festivals as part of the Wellingborough and East Northants district programme organised by Northamptonshire Sport. We continue to take very successful teams of talented sporting individuals to these events for sports such as football, basketball and gymnastics. We also enjoy taking the opportunity to attend events in sports we are less familiar with such as cycling, archery and New Age Kurling.
