We have a wonderful team of staff, who are excited for the year ahead: Mrs Blissett (Head of Year) and Mrs Taylor,  Miss Hanks and Mrs Guest/ Mrs Henderson. We also are lucky to have wonderful teaching assistants: Miss Miller and Mrs Connolly.

We are very excited to explore all of our creative curriculum topics this year.

Scrumdiddlyumptious is our first topic. We will be exploring the world of chocolate using Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as our inspiration in reading and writing lessons. In geography we will be learning how far chocolate travels to reach our shops and we will be looking in depth at the countries that grow the cacao bean. We complete this topic by making our very own piece of chocolate!

In Tribal Tales we will be going back to the Stone Age to learn what life was like. We welcome a Stone Age visitor into our school for the day and we experience a range of things from mammoth hunting to cave painting.

During our Mighty Metals topic we learn all about magnets and how they work. We use the book The Iron Man for our writing and reading stimulus and we welcome into our school some robot experts who will help us to create our own robots!

Next comes our Gods and Mortals topic, where we will learn what life was like in Ancient Greece. We will experience how they lived in an Ancient Greek day, where we make tools, learn the language and create soap and even medicines! The day is finished off with a dance and a banquet where we will be eating food from the time of the Ancient Greeks. In reading and writing we will be using Greek myths and legends as our stimulus.

During our next topic, Urban Pioneers, we will be learning about the history of our local area. We will be visiting some local historical places and learn the stories that are linked to them. We will be learning about artists and will be able to create our own graffiti artwork.

Our final topic is Predator, where we will be learning all about animals, their habitats, diets and food chains. We will be using Harry Potter and the Fantastic Beasts books as our stimulus for writing and reading. During this topic we will get to meet and learn about some real life birds of prey.

In Year 3, we love to learn and we enjoy bringing learning to life through our exciting topics, books and visitors.
