In Year 4 you will find three enthusiastic and hard-working classes belonging to: Miss Oakenfull & Miss Hartney, Mrs Münster and Mrs Spencer-Smith. Working alongside us this year will be Mrs Oslar, Mrs Price and Mrs Denny our lovely Teaching Assistants. We are all looking forward to the year ahead and have some wonderful topics and learning planned for the children.

Over the year, the children will be exploring our creative curriculum topics:

  • Road Trip USA: Here the children will learn about the United States, past and present. They develop their knowledge of Native American Culture, map reading skills and weaving skills in order to create dream catchers and god eyes.
  • I am Warrior: Introducing the children to the Romans and Celts where they will compare the two cultures, understand chronology and study key figures from these times.
  • Blue Abyss: This topic teaches the children about the human and physical features of the sea, it will develop the children’s knowledge of ocean layers, sea exploration, food chains, habitats and pollution.
  • Potions: In the Spring Term, the children will learn the properties of solids, liquids and gases, recognise hazardous materials and learn how and why some medicines were developed.
  • Traders and Raiders: Developing the children’s knowledge of Britain’s early invaders and settlers through teaching about the Anglo Saxon and Viking culture, chronology and key events
  • Playlist: In our final topic of the year, the children will learn about musical genres and sound. They will explore composers and different qualities of sound.

We love to immerse ourselves in our learning and invite visitors into school to bring the creative curriculum to life through workshops and wow days.
